Satriani claimed that the band plagiarized his song and I believed it, as well, due to the similarities in both. The case was dismissed yesterday in a California Court.

NME reports, “Now, according to News.justia.com, the case was dismissed yesterday (September 14) in California Central District Court “upon stipulation”, suggesting that an out-of-court settlement may have been reached.”

That’s the end of that.

A friend of hers reportedly said, “Gwyneth has outright told Chris that he should consider going solo. She is busy doing all of her projects and she wants him to diversify as well. She doesn’t have a problem with Coldplay, but she wants Chris to think about trying a solo album just to see if he likes it.”

Chris was said to be pretty upset at the mention of a solo album, but we’ll keep our ear to the ground to let you know if it ever comes to fruition.

The band has just announced today that they will be giving away a free live album to every concertgoer for their remaining shows (apart from festival shows).

Good morning, We’re pleased to announce that Coldplay will be giving away a live CD, LeftRightLeftRightLeft, at every remaining live show in 2009 (apart from festival shows). Starting with the band’s first North American tour date, at West Palm Beach in Florida on May 15th, every fan attending a show will be given a free copy of the nine-track CD, which won’t be available elsewhere. Also on May 15th, LeftRightLeftRightLeft will be made available as a free download right here at Coldplay.com, for all fans (and for the same time period).

After their 2009 world tour is over, the guys in Coldplay are planning to take a break. Reportedly, so the fans don’t “get sick of their music”. Too late, pal, too late. (But what do I know?)

It was rumored last November that the guys were splitting up completely in 2009, but now, we’ve found that they just might want to take a little break.

Guitarist Johnny Buckland hopes that the hiatus from making music will keep their fans interested. He says, “We ended up doing much more touring than we originally planned so there’s no time to do proper justice to a new project. And anyways people may need a bit of a break form us.”

He adds, “We’re taking a little break and let’s see where we get after that. We’ve got a lot of ideas but we want to find a new way to go and that may take some time.”

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has revealed that the band are planning to give away a live album for free this summer.

He says that he wants to give the album away to fans attending their concerts in September.

He says, “What we want to do is try to give away a live album for free. We’re playing a lot of shows in the summer and I think what we would like to do is – bearing in mind the recession we are in – record the live album then give it as a gift. We are just trying to work out how to do that. It’s obviously a bit tricky in terms of record contracts and things but it would be great. It’s a way of saying thank you. It’s a tough economy and people are paying a lot of money for tickets. We are trying to work out a way that, when you hand your ticket in at the door, you get given the recording. It would be such a cool thing to do.”

It would definitely be a cool thing to do. Especially for those of us who aren’t really into their music, it might thrust us in their direction.

Coldplay was planning to pack in as much stuff as they could possibly accomplish so that they could give up music by the end of next year. So that would lead me to believe that this rumor might be true.

Leona Lewis might have Coldplay appear on her second album. She wants to give her new album a little bit of a “rockier edge”, and having the band guest on the album might just accomplish that for her.

A source says, “Leona would love to work with Coldplay and knows Chris Martin likes her voice. She would love to sing a duet with him. If not, maybe he could write a song for her. Chris is open to all kinds of music and isn’t at all snobby about what some see as cheesy pop.”

Jay-Z will be taking the stage along with Coldplay as a special guest on three of their shows in the U.K. next year. According to the Press Association, the shows will take place next September and tickets will start at £40.

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has hinted around that he has plans to split the band up by the end of next year. He says that the decision was based on his view that bands should give it up before they get too old. He says that he wants to go out with a blast.

He says, “I’m 31 now and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33. So we’re trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we’ll just go for it in every sense. I don’t believe in time off. We’ve still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we’ve got to make the most of that.”

It’s crazy for them to think that they’re too old for the business at 33. If AC/DC had the same mentality at that age, we would’ve missed a lot of their best music.
