On Courtney Love’s Myspace page, her Head Administrator for the page said that even though her album was supposed to drop yesterday on her official site, she’s a perfectionist and things are still getting hashed out.

Here’s what he had to say about the release of “Nobody’s Daughter“:

Courtney is going to deliver, she WILL not make you wait another year or 5, but I can tell you one thing..she will present you with the grandest gift of all if you are a true fan you will understand and appreciate the delays for Courtney is a perfectionist at her very best.

We hear that the album is set for release on February 9th.

Courtney Love is taking credit for paving the way for Britney Spears’ mental breakdown. Courtney confirmed that she took drugs while she was pregnant with her and Kurt’s daughter, Francis Bean.

She said, “I had a long, hard fall. I set the stage for Britney to crash and burn. I went through it all first.”

Does it sound like she’s proud of her crazy past to you? It sounds to me like it’s more of a “been there, done that” type of attitude, which in itself, is not endearing when it comes to mental or drug problems.

Courtney Love gave us a taste of what her Myspace blog on steroids is like on Monday. With posting about 60 entries, including accusing her housekeeper of theft and linking to numerous dresses that she’d wear, we all thought she was just plain crazy. And she still might be, I’m not an expert.

Now, she says that she wants to give up blogging because it upsets Francis Bean too much. She says that anytime she publishes a post, it hits the headlines and the backlash upsets her daughter.

In one of her marathon posts, she says, “PLEASE leave my kid out of it. When I make a technical booboo or get a little whacky (sic)…my problem.”

I don’t think she should quit blogging, but spellcheck wouldn’t hurt. And maybe put out a new album sometime this decade.

Is Courtney Love going the way of no label predecessors, Radiohead? Radiohead released In Rainbows for the pay anything price and some are calling this an end to record labels. On the other side of that coin, however, is the fact that over 60 percent of people who downloaded In Rainbows, did so for free. Courtney Love is now a free agent and has said that she liked the Radiohead idea.

Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails is also label-free. He recently got rid of his label, Interscope Records and has said that he would release his next album for $5.00 via his website. That’s money in the bank right there and he’ll get an influx of free advertising (from writers like myself).

Pearl Jam already has a model for selling live recordings to fans without having to deal with any middle man. They are also signed with Sony BMG’s J Label, in a record-to-record deal. No real contract, so they can go with the Radiohead model any time.

Prince has also let the regular record label way of doing things fall by the wayside. He mailed a copy of his new album with the Daily Mail, in the U.K.

These artists already have the model and the means to make the direct-to-consumer jump, like Radiohead has. Will they do it?
