As you may recall, the group had a bit of a falling out over Doherty’s drug use, which led to him getting kicked out of the band in 2004. Carl Barat went and formed Dirty Pretty Things, while Doherty formed Babyshambles (who I absolutely love).

The group have made it official, signing a new management deal, with a source confirming, “The Libertines will definitely be back next year.”

Flight attendants say they became concerned when they found Doherty slumped over in the airplane’s bathroom. He was returned to his seat and appeared intoxicated.

He has since been arrested over the incident and subsequently released.

He was charged with an unspecified offense and given a fine. He went on to perform at the Neuchatel Open Air Festival.

Tsk. Tsk. Get it together Pete!

I find this one really hard to believe, but some crackies deserve a reprieve for the New Year, so I’ll cut Pete Doherty some slack. Some, not much. Maybe he’s been paying attention to the rumors that Alex James said he and Amy Winehouse weren’t going to make it past 2010. Things that make you go hmmmmm.

He says, “I’m sick of going around in circles. I’m clean now and I’m going to stay that way this year – apart from the fags and the booze.”

So it’s drinking and smoking for Pete not crack and pipe. Good for him, I hope he keeps this resolution.

Blur’s bassist Alex James says that he’d be surprised if both Amy Winehouse and Pete Doherty make it to 2010.

He made a documentary on the South American drugs trade earlier this year, but said that both Amy and Pete’s outlook would be brighter with the help of their friends and families.

He says, “I’d be surprised if Pete Doherty and Amy Winehouse both live to see the decade out. You know, it’s not funny. I’ve been in situations where my best friends have been killing themselves (with drugs) and they won’t listen. At least there’s an infrastructure for getting better now. If that had existed in Elvis’s day then maybe he’d still be alive. It is scary.”

Pete Doherty is a hero!! Who knew!?!??

Apparently the rocker had prevented a massive fire by calling the fire department at England’s Reading Festival on Saturday. He was due to play a gig there with Babyshambles when he noticed some smoke coming from the parking lot. He reacted quickly and alerted authorities. Who knew Petey could move so quickly!

A witness says, “It was thanks to him that the fire did not spread further. I was amazed, I’ve never seen him move so fast. He’s the last person you’d expect to have such a lightning reaction to anything, unless it was illegal. But he stopped the situation from getting any worse.”

Dreamboat Doherty might have to keep looking over his shoulder. Apparently, Amy Winehouse’s husband Blake Incarcerated, gave someone $40k to make sure Petey ends up in the hospital.

He says that he’s pretty sure Dreamboat is bangin’ his woman, so he wants him taken care of:

He approached ex-bouncer Richard Lyttle, on remand for murder but since released without charge.

Richard said: “We were sitting in my cell and he said, ‘If you get Doherty for me I’ll give you £20,000.’ He kept saying, ‘Can you arrange it?’ and telling me to get some guys to his house. He knew the address. He said, ‘Amy’s obviously sleeping with him.’

“He knew I used to be a doorman and knew some tough people. He said he wanted him smashed to pieces.”

Instead of confronting Amy or Pete, he wants to hire some goons to beat the crap out of him. Real nice.

Pete Doherty is reportedly in talks to set up his own record label with the assistance of a millionaire businessman. The tycoon, Andrew Michael, has tons of cash and wants to work with Pete? Really?

This would allow Pete to have more creative control over his music career.

A source says, “The move could pave the way for Doherty to have complete creative control over his music career. Pete’s thinking the sky’s the limit. He’s getting some good advice and he can’t wait to get going. A record label would be good to start with but he’s got a whole host of other ideas to make money.”

Wonder what they’re going to call it? Crackhead Records?

Sources say that there’s going to be an Amy Winehouse/Pete Doherty duet in the works. It sounds to me like a match made in crack heaven!

When Petey gets out of the pokey, he plans to sing at London’s Royal Albert Hall where he was forced to scrap a gig when he was thrown into jail.

This oughtta be interesting.

Pete Doherty is set to work on the third Babyshambles album straight from the clink. He’s got plenty of time to concentrate on it, too. He was jailed last Tuesday for violating his probation and various drug offenses.

The band isn’t going to let his incarceration get them down, though.

Drummer Adam Ficek says, “We will send Pete the first nine burns (recordings) so he can work on them in there. It will give him something to keep him occupied, keep him focused and remind him that outside we’re all holding the fort for him. And also that as soon as he gets out it will be business as usual.”

I love their music, so I hope it’s good. At least we might be able to hear what he sounds like sober? And to think he wanted to help Blake Fielder-Civil get clean?

Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty has hit hard times, apparently. The rocker made a young fan’s dream come true recently by performing at her birthday party recently –for a mere $200!!

He has been flooded with requests ever since. Sources say, “The birthday girl’s dad told him she was a huge fan and that he’d give him £100 (which translates to $200 in U.S. money) to perform at her party.

“Pete was flattered and happy to oblige. He showed up and performed his big hits. Everyone had a great time.”
