Coldplay to quit their record label?

January 8, 2008 by Roberta

Brit rockers Coldplay are set to leave their current label, EMI, after a major takeover which has already driven out many stars. The band has a five album deal with the company, of which they owe them two more releases. They’re releasing their newest LP this summer and a greatest hits album next year.

It’s being rumored that they will go the way of Radiohead when their contract is up with EMI.

A source tells the Daily Star, “There’s so much uncertainty in the record industry right now. The boys don’t necessarily need a label any more. They aren’t even considering putting pen to paper on any type of contract until they see what happens.”

So, we’ll sit back and see what happens.
