Marilyn Manson to perform for Barack Obama?

There’s a new rumor making its way on the internet that Barack Obama’s people have asked Marilyn Manson to perform for him at his inauguration. Evan Rachel Wood, Manson’s ex-girlfriend, has claimed that Manson was asked to perform for Obama in support of the campaign.
When asked, Obama’s people have claimed that it’s just not true.
When Wood was asked about the claim, she said, “I advised them not to do it. I said, ‘If you show up there, it’s not going to be good. It’s going to bring a lot of controversy, which I know you love, but Obama doesn’t need it right now.’”
Think an ex-girlfriend has any pull with the band? Or are they just trying to associate themselves with the campaign at this point?
