Pete Doherty Says The Libertines Are Reforming

February 27, 2009 by Roberta

I guess if Amy Winehouse can stay clean for longer than a month than anything is possible, right?

Apparently, Pete Doherty and Carl Barat have worked out their differences, as Pete is announcing that he’s reforming The Libertines.

The band split up in 2004 due to Pete’s drug addictions. He subsequently went on to form Babyshambles, while Carl Barat formed Dirty Pretty Things.

Here’s their song, “Can’t Stand Me Now” if you haven’t had the opportunity to hear them before today. I don’t like them as much as Babyshambles, but that’s just my opinion. What do you think?

Of their reunion, Pete says, “The Libertines is going to happen. I didn’t twist Carl’s arm too far. He doesn’t take kindly to it. He’s not harder than me, but he’s got a nasty streak. Twist it too far and it’ll snap.”
