Stephen King works on musical with John Mellencamp
Horror writing master, Stephen King, is writing a Broadway musical. Yes you heard that correctly, it’s that Stephen King. Weirdly enough, he’s going to have John Mellencamp do the music.
King has written the script for the musical, titled, “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County”. The play will open at Atlanta’s Alliance Theater in April 2009. The object of the play is to get it ready for a run on Broadway.
The Alliance, which announced the project on Tuesday, described it as “a sultry Southern gothic mystery with a blues-tinged, guitar-driven score.”
The story is set in the fictional town of Lake Belle Reve, Miss., and centers on the deaths in 1957 of two brothers and a young girl and the legend that grows out of the tragedy.
